Eldon Dean Byrum, Sr.

Eldon Dean Byrum, Sr. was born November 9, 1946 in Westville, OK to Eldon & Maudena (Turner) Byrum. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 69 years, 7 months, & 13 days.

Dean attended grade school at Oak Ridge school & then Sapulpa High School. On May 1, 1970, in Muskogee, OK, Harriet Morrison & Eldon Dean Byrum, Sr. were united in marriage. The couple have been married for over 46 years. For those 46 years, Locust Grove has been their home.

Dean worked as a truck driver & diesel mechanic. He was a member of the Outlaw Cruisers Car Club & Wild Bunch Motor Sports. He was a car enthusiast and loved his 1940 Chevy Business Coup. Dean’s family was very important to him & he worked hard to keep his boys out of trouble. He loved taking care of his dogs & watching the Sci-Fi channel on TV. He will be missed dearly.

Dean is survived by: His wife: Harriet of the home; 2 sons: Dean “Dino” Byrum, Jr. & wife Debbie of Inola, OK & Donnie Byrum & wife Angelena of Locust Grove, OK; 6 grandchildren: Samantha Lynn Byrum, Seth Coger, Chase Dean Byrum, Crystal “Sissy” Byrum, Kelly Bradley, & Tracey Byrum & wife Kristin; 1 great grandson: Reed Lee Byrum; His father: Eldon Byrum of Garland, TX; 1 brother: Larry Byrum & wife Ginger of Houston, TX; 2 sisters: Diana Whittington of Ft. Worth, TX & Sherry Benson & husband Red of Wylie, TX; Best Friends: John Wilson & Jerry Ingram, Sr. A special cousin: Marie Goombi of Locust Grove, OK; Numerous other relatives & a host of friends; He was preceded in death by: his mother; an uncle: Don Turner; & his mother and father-in-law: Rhoda & Bob Morrison.

Rhoda Jane Morrison,   June 09, 1931 – May 28, 2016

One of the club’s charter members, Rhoda Jane Morrison, passed away May 28 at home surrounded by family. Graveside services for Rhoda, 84, a long time Locust Grove resident, will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Rhoda, a homemaker, was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Morrison. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby & Ramona Morrison, and daughter and son-in-law, Harriet & Dean Byrum, all members of the club, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Total views were 11,107 from 3,672 visitors, mostly from the US, but we are still getting some global recognition. The Club By-Laws Page is still getting the second highest number of hits, after Home Page.

Larry Love wrote the following to let members know of Angie’s passing.

The time has come to celebrate Angie’s life.  She passed peacefully at 11:58 pm Tuesday and I was blessed to be holding her hand when the time came for her to begin her new wonderful life.  Let us all rejoice and be thankful that we had the opportunity to know her and experience the joy she brought to our lives.  Even though her body was ravaged with cancer, as an organ donor, she will make it possible for two people to see.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support during her courageous fight against this terrible disease.“Live each day to the fullest folks.  If you’re not having fun, do something else.  This philosophical moment has been brought to you by Dr. Love.”

Dr. Angela Sue Love was born on December 22, 1954 in Afton, Oklahoma to Thomas Edward Cole and Anna B. (Ingram) Cole. She passed from this life on January 19, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 28 days after her 61st birthday.

Dr. Love received her Bachelor degree in Elementary and Special Education from Missouri Southern State College. While beginning a teaching career working with children with multiple disabilities, she continued her education and received a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities from Pittsburg State University. She taught special education students with learning, vision and multiple disabilities and served as a school psychologist. She then became the program coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Early Childhood Special Education program at Pittsburg State. During this time, she received her Doctorate degree from Oklahoma State University in the field of School Psychology. She practiced as a School Psychologist for an additional 13 years at Union Public Schools before her retirement from public education after 30 years of service. She was also an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State.

Dr. Love became licensed for private practice in 1995 and also received distinction as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Diplomat in the American Board of School Neuropsychologists. She worked in private practice at Strength of Mind in Claremore before returning to public school in the Broken Arrow and Union school systems. She has served as President and in various Executive Board positions in the Oklahoma School Psychological Association and was elected as the Oklahoma School Psychologist of the Year in 2002.

Her family will warmly remember her many loves in life which included spending time with Larry, watching old movies, mysteries, music & dancing, classic cars and reading. She was proud to have completed her yoga teacher training. She will be remembered as a great wife, daughter, sister and friend with a very kind spirit, funny sense of humor and giving nature. This nature was evident even to the end as shown by her desire to help others as a donor of her corneas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother; Ralph Cole. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Larry Gene Love whom she married on June 3, 1983 in Miami, OK as well as by 1 daughter; Jami Lyn Lamb and husband Jamey, of Coweta, 2 granddaughters; Lexi & Addi, 2 sisters; Tommie Bond and husband Ken, of Bixby & Janie Wright and husband Steve, of Waco, TX, 1 brother; David Cole and wife Donna, of Tulsa, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers and longtime friends.

Outlaw Cruisers mourn the loss of Rosemary Holman, who passed away Nov. 16, 2015.  Rosemary, wife of Cotton Holman, was an active member of the club and served as Treasurer from 2010 to 2014.

Rosemary was born March 9, 1941 in Ketchum, OK. She attended school in Pryor until 6^th Grade then moved to Locust Grove, where she graduated High School in 1959.  She loved playing tennis and basketball during her high school years. Rosemary and Cotton married on June 30, 1958 in Tahlequah without telling her parents. They didn’t realize their marriage would be published in the paper.

Rosemary worked as an executive secretary for Lone Star Cement Factory in Pryor, where she retired after 42 years of service.  She was a member of the Locust Grove First United Methodist Church and shared her beautiful voice singing in the choir. She was an active member of the Home Community & Education Group and the Pryor Patchers Quilt Guild. She took up quilting late in life after retiring, and made many exquisite quilts that looked like she had been quilting all her life. She was a perfectionist and won ribbons and awards for her work, including her most recent accomplishment for “Grand Champion Quilt” at the 2015 Mayes County Fair.

Rosemary was always looking out for and taking care of Cotton. She and her smile will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.
